Yamaha YZ250F - HISTORY
With the emergence of 4-stroke motocross machines at the end of the 1990s, led by the Yamaha 400 YZF, Yamaha naturally wanted to develop competitive four-stroke motorcycles for other displacement classes. After the YZ 400 (1997) and the YZ 426 (2000), Yamaha turned its attention to the 250cc class in 2001. The 250 YZF was the first 250cc motocross bike with a four-stroke engine to compete against 125cc bikes with two-stroke engines. It was heavier than its rivals at the time, but had a more powerful and easier-to-use engine, which made it a real weapon and a serious competitor.
The Yamaha YZ250F was originally equipped with a steel frame, but received its first facelift in 2003 and a completely new aluminum frame in 2006. In 2010, the aluminium frame was improved and the fairing was completely modernized. The biggest change followed in 2014: a new chassis and, above all, a new injection engine with a reversed cylinder like on the 450. Thanks to the high-torque, responsive engine, the YZ250F became one of the most popular motorcycles in its class. In 2019, it received a new, more agile and slimmer chassis.
The Yamaha 250 YZF is a powerful motocross motorcycle for competition and leisure riding. It is not approved for road use, but is designed for use on racetracks / motocross trails.
