Aprilia SR 50 Racing LC (Piaggio engine) – General information
The Aprilia SR 50 originally launched in 1992 and quickly became one of the brand’s most popular models thanks to its modern design, directly inspired by Grand Prix race bikes. Over the course of its development, the Racing version received key upgrades compared with the standard model: an optimized setup with more stroke, a more aggressive ramp plate, and stiffer clutch springs for noticeably better take-off. In addition, the carburetor setup from the factory was tuned to the maximum allowed by homologation, rounded off with a sporty look featuring Moto GP graphics.
From 2003 onward, the Racing series made a major leap in quality by switching to the Piaggio engine. This change brought significantly more robust mechanics and taller gearing, making the scooter a perfect base for high-end builds. With this engine and components such as the 17.5 mm DellOrto carburetor (Euro 2), the model set new benchmarks for reliability and performance in the sport scooter segment.

Engine
This model is equipped with the liquid-cooled Piaggio single-cylinder 2-stroke engine with 49 cc displacement. The 17.5 mm DellOrto carburetor provides strong, direct throttle response. Thanks to the liquid cooling, optimal heat dissipation is ensured, so consistent performance can be relied on even with sporty riding or tuned engines.

Chassis
The chassis of the Racing version with Piaggio engine is convincing in every respect, with the dual disc brake standing out in particular. The suspension is tuned to absorb bumps precisely, while the engine block is integrated securely into the rear wheel guide. The 13-inch wheels provide precise, confident handling, and the 190 mm brake discs front and rear deliver reliable braking power at all times.
