HONDA CRF 450 - HISTORY

The emergence of 4-stroke motocross machines at the end of the 90s was originally driven mainly by Yamaha; Honda had to react and also developed powerful competitive 4-stroke motocross bikes. The 450 CRF appeared in 2002 after a long development period. The 450 CRF quickly became queen of its class, not least because of its powerful and smooth-running engine and the aluminum perimeter frame, which offers exceptionally good handling. Incidentally, maneuverability has always been the great advantage of Honda chassis in motocross races.

The Honda CRF 450 was equipped with a completely revised chassis in 2005, a steering damper in 2008, electronic fuel injection and a new frame in 2009, and a new generation of cylinders in 2013, 2017 and 2021. Although the CRF 450 has always had an engine with a single camshaft (Unicam system), Honda has made numerous changes over time. The most notable were the fuel injection in 2009 and the "straight" intake from the top from 2017. The latest version from 2021 offers options such as 3-stage launch control, 3-stage traction control and 3 power curves.

The Honda 450 CRF is an extremely powerful off-road motorcycle for competition, but also for recreational use. However, it is more suitable for experienced riders who can handle the massive power of almost 60 hp. It is not approved for road use, but is designed for use on motocross tracks and trails.
