Piaggio Ciao - General information
The Piaggio Ciao, also known as Vespa Ciao, is a classic moped with an air-cooled 2-stroke engine that has been built since 1968 and was remained more or less unchanged until 2006. The Piaggio Ciao was designed as a simple, inexpensive means of transportation for urban traffic. Its simple design and robust frame quickly made it popular. Over the years, the design has undergone a few updates, but the basic character of the Ciao has remained the same. It remains a popular vintage moped to this day.
Ciao moped - engine
The Piaggio Ciao is equipped with an air-cooled two-stroke single-cylinder engine. It has a 2-speed automatic gearbox and reaches a top speed of 45 km/h. As was customary at the time, it is started by pedal. Two-stroke engines, such as the Piaggio Ciao, use a premixed fuel mixture of petrol and two-stroke oil for lubrication and cooling.
Moped Ciao - Chassis
The front suspension consists of a single-sided swingarm and at the rear it had a sprung seat post with a double-spring. The brakes are drum brakes at the front (Ø 103 mm) and rear (Ø 136 mm).
