Piaggio Bravo - General information
The Piaggio Bravo first rolled off the Piaggio production line in 1971. The first Bravo A series did not have any suspension. The plastic tank is typical of the first series. When the Bravo was redesigned in 1976, the tank was now made of sheet metal. The Bravo was available in different colours right from the start. The new series was given a completely different fairing. It looked sturdier and was more comfortable. At the front, it was fitted with an oil-pressure shock, which were previously reserved for Piaggio mopeds. The tank also underwent a facelift. The fourth series was produced at the same time as the third series. The Super Bravo was marketed as a sporty motocross moped. All plastic parts of the Bravo De LUXE were painted. The Bravo was available in various versions with automatic transmission or as Super Bravo 2 (EMC1T) with a manual 2-speed transmission.
Bravo moped - Engine
The Piaggio Bravo has an air-cooled, single-cylinder Piaggio 2-stroke engine and is not really designed for performance. However, the automatic transmission offers constant acceleration and is easy to operate even for beginners. Some models have a real automatic transmission / CVT, others only have a centrifugal clutch. The components are not compatible! The moped is equipped with a Dell'Orto SHA 12 carburetor.
Piaggio Bravo moped - Chassis
The front suspension consists of a telescopic fork and the rear suspension of a double shock absorber. The brake system consists of a drum brake at the front (Ø 90mm) and rear (Ø 136mm).
