Rectifier function

The rectifier or regulator converts the AC voltage generated by the alternator into the 12V DC voltage required for the on-board electrical system and ensures that the voltage remains within a certain range. This charges the battery and prevents bulbs from burning out, for example.

As this component is exposed to high temperatures, defects often occur. With a defective rectifier or regulator, the battery is often flat, certain ignitions may no longer work, bulbs burn out constantly or the headlights start to flicker.
